One of the biggest challenges was devising a system to mount the 9” f/3 finderscope that Steve built for it on the mirror box of the 24”. I ended up making two wooden and veneered brackets with adjustment bolts spaced apart 120 degrees on the bottom. I drilled a rounded rectangle on the bottom of the 9” f/3 finderscope to capture the retaining stud I installed into one of the brackets. I carefully drilled the holes into the mirror box for this system.
The veneer I chose for this project is Cerejeira which has great seam hiding abilities owing to the grain pattern. Try as you might, you cannot find a single seam in the Cerejeira on the entire scope, except for when it is joined with a veneer of a different species.
